WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND THE 4RS

This project evaluates service corps programs as they expand their work on disaster response, recovery, and resilience. Funded by the Department of the Interior/National Parks Service, the USDA/US Forest Service, and AmeriCorps, our research maps the constellation of service corps programs, their organizational partners, and their relationships with local communities and national parks and forests.

THE CLIMATE CONSTITUENCIES PROJECT

This project studies how climate policy networks around the United States are evolving. It documents the ideological and policy networks operating at the state and federal levels on climate/clean energy issues and observes how they are changing over time. The research maps out what clusters are forming around particular climate-related issues, what explains the formation of these clusters, and how they are related to specific policy actors.   The current wave of this project (CCP 2022) was funded by the Hewlett Foundation and the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG). Previous waves of this project have been funded by the MacArthur Foundation and the US National Science Foundation.

THE PROTEST PROJECT

This project analyzes the people who participate in protest events: who are they, what motivates them to protest, and how are they connected to one another. Current research on this project is studying the climate movement and the movement against systemic racism. Previous research was synthesized in  American Resistance (Columbia University Press 2019).

TOWARDS US-JAPAN Co-CREATION OF SUSTAINABILITY TRANSFORMATIONS (JUSTra-Network)

The JUSTra Network is designed to expand capacity for innovation in consumption and production through engaged research that is actionable. The Network will determine what are the spaces for cooperation and collaboration between the US and Japan that facilitate sustainability transformation (in both countries and throughout the world looking at policy domains broadly defined), facilitate Japan-US dialogue around this area, and create connections between researchers and decision-makers in the policy arena and the business sector to encourage collaboration
